What mattered to my father was not the scale of an accomplishment, but that we did our share to make the world better. That we learned we were part of something larger than ourselves.
“Every American should have the opportunity to receive a quality education, a job that respects their dignity and protects their safety, and health care that does not condemn those whose health is impaired to a lifetime of poverty and lost opportunity.”
-Senator Edward Kennedy (February 22, 1932 – August 25, 2009)
Happy Birthday to My Favorite Senator.

February 22, 1932 – August 25, 2009
“This man was a beacon of hope, always fighting for those that sometimes were voiceless. He was a strong leader for immigration reform, health reform, education and hate crime legislation. You name it, all things that affect all communities, the senator was there.” - Rosa Rosales, President of the League of United Latin American Citizens

Christopher Nolan [about Heath Ledger]: One time he and another actor were shooting a complex scene. We had two days to shoot it, and at the end of the first day, they’d really found something and Heath was worried that he might not have it if we stopped. He wanted to carry on and finish. It’s tough to ask the crew to work late when we all know there’s plenty of time to finish the next day. But everyone seemed to understand that Heath had something special and that we had to capture it before it disappeared. Months later, I learned that as Heath left the set that night, he quietly thanked each crew member for working late. Quietly. Not trying to make a point, just grateful for the chance to create that they’d given him.

“But as a philosopher said, one day after mastering the winds, the waves, the tides and gravity, after all the scientific and technological achievements, we shall harness for God the energies of love. And then, for the second time in the history of the world, man will have discovered fire.” - Sargent Shriver (November 9, 1915 – January 18, 2011), founder of the Peace Corp, among an almost unbelievable list of other accomplishments.
